Nate Gonyea was born and raised in South Rockwood, MI. I graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Sports Management from Madonna University in Livonia, MI. I worked for the Plymouth Whalers (now Flint Firebirds) of the OHL before starting childcare work. My first professional childcare experience was in 2013 at Camp Boggy Creek in Eustis, FL. I worked as a summer cabin counselor for the 2013 and 2014 summers. In 2014 I spent the school year as a Program Instructor at Thousand Pines Outdoor Education in Crestline, CA. This is an overnight outdoor education experience for 5th and 6th grade students where we would hike through the mountains of southern California and teach them different science lessons along the hike. In 2015 I worked the summer at Camp Boggy Creek as a Pride Leader where I would oversee 4 cabins of campers and counselors. After the summer I moved to Jacksonville, FL. Where I worked with a sports merchandise company until the summer of 2016. I then started my career with the YMCA as a Site Manager for one of their summer day camps. That fall, I transitioned to membership and stayed there until I moved to Sarasota in 2017. I started working at the Frank G. Berlin YMCA as a Membership Representative that March, then transitioned to Youth Development in October.
