Congratulations to the Sarasota YMCA for a clean sweep of FLAGS, Senior Champs, and now YNats! What a great start for new head coach Brent Arckey.
Distance summer Drew Clark began and the ended with a bang, first winning the 100 Free (9:00.14) on the first night of the competition and then setting a new national record in the men’s 1650 free with a 15:07.83 on the final night. That swim broke SYS’s Nicholas Caldwell previous mark from 2011. Impressively, SYS swept the podium in both races. In the 1000 Free with Daniel Erlenmeyer (9:03.04) and Carter Page (9:05.04) joining Drew.
For the women, Sophie Cattermole (4:46.15) took bronze in the 500 Free, silver in the 200 IM, and silver in the 200 Free (1:47.43) where during prelims, she broke a 1979 Sharks team record held by Olympian Kim Linehan.
Overall the Sharks won the men’s team title and the ladies took third adding up to a combined team title—congrats!
