Giving Tuesday

This year, on Tuesday, November 29, 2016, the Sarasota YMCA is participating in #GivingTuesday, a global day dedicated to giving. We are asking for your support to raise $2,500.

  • $5,000 will provide shelter and basic needs to thirteen homeless youth.
  • $1,000 will provide partial scholarships for 44 children to take swim lessons.
  • $500 will provide partial scholarships for ten youth to develop team building skills and improve fitness levels through youth sport leagues.
  • $90 will allow one child to learn to swim.

Last year, more than 45,000 organizations in 71 countries came together to celebrate #GivingTuesday. Since its founding in 2012, #GivingTuesday has inspired giving around the world, resulting in greater donations, volunteer hours, and activities that bring about real change in communities. We invite you to join the movement and to help get out and give this November 29.

Every dollar raised for #GivingTuesday gives individuals, families and children opportunities to learn, grow and thrive through programs and services. The YMCA never turns anyone down for the inability to pay.

Students are given free swim lessons during the school year, made possible by generous donations from the community.

We’re so thrilled to have the opportunity to connect your passion to the Sarasota YMCA mission. Because of you, the programs and services the Y provide to the community allow over 50,000 people annually to walk through our doors to learn, grow, thrive and feel accepted. Because of you, families and individuals are able to get the support they need whether it’s financially, physically or spiritually. $1.7 million was given last year through scholarships, subsidies and financial assistance. Thank you for strengthening your community!
