Since 1945, the Sarasota YMCA has been committed to strengthening the community through youth development by nurturing the potential of every child and teen; healthy living by improving the community’s health and well-being; and social responsibility by giving back and providing support to our neighbors. We believe that positive life changing experiences promote acceptance and build self-esteem for all.
The Y means different things to different people. For some, it is a place to maintain health and wellness, to manage a chronic disease or to prevent illness. For vulnerable youth caught in a web of hopelessness, fear, or struggling parents, it is a safe haven at our youth shelter or an opportunity to stay in school through our Schoolhouse Link program for homeless children. For our county’s abused or neglected children, it is the support of loving foster parents or the opportunity to be reunited with their rehabilitated families or be adopted. For our youth sports programs like swim teams and gymnastics competing on local, state, national and international levels, it is achievement, enrichment and self-confidence building. For seniors, it is an opportunity to be connected to an active, caring community. Life changing experiences like these — and yours — have a positive impact on more than 50,000 people in the Sarasota Community annually.
Through the generosity of our donors — including members, employees, volunteers and board members — our Annual Caring Campaign allows us to provide membership scholarships and financial assistance to local individuals, children and families in need.
When you make a charitable donation to our Annual Caring Campaign, you are part of a cause that ensures that no one is turned away due to an inability to pay. Your support makes a real difference in our community.
